Screnshotting works in windowed mode, but I struggled to get the engine to reliably open up in a window. Coming from our Linux Community, we have cooked and packaged (in Windows) various Unreal Engine 4. In full-screen mode it’s very hard to take screenshots (you’ll probably just get a black window). For other settings, such as vsync, you need to visit Elemental > Saved > Config > WidnowsNoEditor and edit GameUserSettings.ini. SetRes 1920x1080 (or whatever) lets you set the resolution. When the demo is running, use tilde ~ to open up the console.

  • If you get stuck, Alt-F4 should close the demo.
  • Navigate to Elemental > Binaries, and then choose the right folder for your CPU (probably Win64).
  • You may have to install the Visual C++ 2013 redist runtime ( vcredist2013_圆4.exe for 64-bit CPUs or vcredist2013_x86.exe for 32-bit CPUs).
  • Extract the package using something like 7zip.

QuoteWe would like Unreal Engine 4 on Linux to have the same recognition as Windows and OS X platforms. There's still a lot of work to do to get Linux supported fully in the Unreal Engine ecosystem like UnrealFrontend, the Editor (although the community has done work there), but it doesn't look like 32bit will be officially worked on due to Unreal themselves focusing on 64bit. Thanks to the community a bunch of demo games built in Unreal Engine 4 now work on 64bit Linux, so give it a try! The current Unreal Engine only supports 64bit Linux, so remember that if you plan to try the test games.
